Block, Inc., the global financial technology group behind Square, Cash App and Afterpay, has opened a new European hub at One Park Place in Dublin, further strengthening the capital’s position as a leading location for international financial services and technology occupiers.

The office, located in Dublin’s central business district, will act as Block’s primary European base, supporting policy engagement, seller growth and talent development across the region. The move reflects continued demand from US-headquartered fintech and payments firms for high-quality Dublin office space aligned with regulatory access, skilled labour and international connectivity.

Block said the choice of One Park Place supports its distributed-first working model while providing dedicated space for collaboration, customer engagement and industry events. The fit-out includes a product demonstration lab, flexible workstations for up to 50 staff, and dedicated areas for regulatory roundtables, partner meetings and community engagement.

John O’Beirne, chief executive of Square International at Block, said the Dublin office represents a long-term commitment to Europe. He said the company sees Ireland as a natural base for its regional growth, citing the regulatory environment, entrepreneurial ecosystem and depth of financial services talent.

From a real estate perspective, the decision underlines the continued attractiveness of prime Dublin office stock to global occupiers seeking flexibility rather than large-scale, single-use headquarters. The emphasis on hybrid working, stakeholder engagement space and smaller, high-spec offices reflects an ongoing shift in how international firms are using Dublin as a strategic hub rather than a purely employment-heavy location.

The office will also serve as a gateway for engagement with European policymakers, as well as a base for supporting sellers and partners using Block’s platforms across the EU and UK markets.

During a visit to the new office, An Taoiseach Micheál Martin TD said Ireland continues to attract global technology companies due to its skilled workforce, pro-enterprise environment and investment in research and development.

Mateo Miranda, global head of real estate at Block, said the Dublin office is designed to bring teams closer to customers and policymakers, while maintaining flexibility as the company scales across Europe.

Block’s move adds to ongoing demand for centrally located Dublin offices from financial services, payments and technology firms, even as overall office take-up remains selective and increasingly focused on quality, sustainability and adaptability rather than scale.
