Blanchardstown Centre has appointed OCS Ireland to provide integrated security and cleaning services under a new three-year contract covering the major Dublin retail and leisure destination.

The agreement, announced by OCS on 24 August, will see the facilities services company provide security and cleaning directly across the centre, which is managed by Savills. The appointment represents a change for Blanchardstown Centre following decades with its previous service providers.

Blanchardstown Centre has more than 180 stores across its main shopping centre and two adjoining retail parks, together with approximately 5,500 car parking spaces. It attracts millions of visitors annually.

Under the contract, OCS will provide static guarding, regular security patrols, CCTV monitoring and customer assistance. It will also deliver cleaning and hygiene services throughout the centre and its external car parks.

OCS said the integrated approach is intended to support continuous trading, maintain presentation standards and provide a safe environment for customers, retailers and staff.

The company will introduce a training framework specifically for its Blanchardstown operation, focused on providing consistent and customer-facing services across the destination.

Service performance will also be reported to Savills and the centre management team, providing real-time visibility of operations. OCS said the contract will be supported by its helpdesk and a priority-based resilience model aimed at maintaining services during peak trading periods.

The agreement includes environmental, social and governance measures covering local employment, staff development, inclusive recruitment, lower-emission equipment and sustainable cleaning products. OCS said delivery will be underpinned by its ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certifications.

Áine Mulcahy, Managing Director of OCS, said the agreement represented more than the provision of security and cleaning services.

“We are proud to partner with Savills and Blanchardstown Centre at such an iconic Irish destination,” she said.

“This is far more than a security and cleaning contract; it is a shared vision to make Blanchardstown Ireland’s premier retail destination, delivering an outstanding, safe and welcoming experience for the millions of people who visit each year.”

Iain Finlayson, Centre Director at Blanchardstown Centre, described the appointment as an investment in the future operation of the destination.

“Our ambition is not simply to maintain our position, but to continually raise the standard for retail and leisure destinations in Ireland,” he said.

“Achieving that requires trusted partners who share our commitment to operational excellence, innovation and delivering exceptional experiences. I am delighted to welcome OCS and look forward to working together to realise that ambition.”
